USBasp Driver Installation Guide

USBasp Driver is firmware-only USB driver that is needed by USB based AVR programmers to write or read the target device’s(micro controller) different memories(Flash, EEPROM, Fuse and others) with the help of any hex downloader software.

Installation Process

The installation of USBasp driver in all the supported OS are same but in Window 8 and Window 8.1 prior to USBasp driver installation, the driver signature enforcement which is enabled by default for security reason, needs to be disabled. If driver signature enforcement is enabled, then the USBasp driver cannot be installed in Window 8 and Window 8.1. Users with Window version other than Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 can directly jump to USBasp Installation Guide but users with Window 8 and Window 8.1 have to first go to Driver signature enforcement disable steps in Window 8 and Driver signature enforcement disable steps in Window 8.1 respectively.

Installation Process

The step-by-step Installation Process for USBasp Driver Installation Guide is as follows:

  • " Driver signature enforcement disable steps in Window 8 Move the cursor of the mouse to right-top or right-bottom corner of the screen or Press the “Win + C” Keyboard combination which will bring the Charms Bar. Detail is shown in the below picture.":

  • Click “Settings” link to open another dialog box which is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “Change PC Settings” link to open a new window which is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “General” link in the PC settings pane and then find and Click “Restart now” under “Advanced startup” in right side pane. This will open a new dialog box which is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “Troubleshoot” link in the “Choose an option” dialog box which will open another dialog box. The new dialog box is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “Advanced options” link in the “Troubleshoot” dialog box. This will open another dialog box which is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “Startup Settings” link in the “Advanced options” dialog box. This will open another dialog box which is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “Restart” button in the “Startup settings” dialog box. This will restart the system and a new dialog box will open after restart which is shown in the below picture.:

  • " Press the “F7” or “7” key from the keyboard. This will restart the system normally. Then follow the steps given in the USBasp Installation Guide. Driver signature enforcement disable steps in Window 8.1 Move the cursor of the mouse to right-top or rig:

  • Click “Settings” link to open another dialog box which is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “Change PC Settings” link to open a new window which is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “Update & recovery” link in the left side pane. This will open “Advanced Startup” section in the right side pane which is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “Restart now” button in the “Advanced startup” section which will open another dialog box. The new dialog box is shown in the below picture.:

  • Click the “Restart” button in the “Restart to change Window options such as” dialog box. This will restart the system and a new dialog box will open after restart which is shown in the below picture.:

  • Press the “F7” or “7” key from the keyboard. This will restart the system normally. Then follow the steps given in the USBasp Installation Guide.:
